Tennis star Martina Hingis hot news

Relying on wile and carrying a good degree of brashness, Martina Hingis became the youngest tennis champion ever, and won five Grand Slam singles titles overall.

At just 5 feet 7 inches and 130 pounds, much smaller than most of the players who have come to dominate women’s tennis, Hingis relied on a variety of shots and sharp angles instead of power to win five Grand Slam titles.

Coached and pushed by her mother, Melanie Molitor, to excel at the game, Hingis turned professional at 14. At 16, in 1997, she won the Australian Open and became the youngest champion of the Open era, and the youngest in tennis history since 15-year-old Lottie Dodd won Wimbeldon in 1887
