Cameron Diaz too scared to star in 'The Sound of Music' remake

Diaz, 36, who is rumoured to be the favourite for the lead role of Maria in a new version of the classic musical film, is not confident she can match Andrew’s performance.

“I don’t know if I would do it because that is one of those awe-striking moments. Julie is amazing and I don’t know if I could follow an act like that,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

And though she believes she is not going to be able to play the part well, Diaz revealed that she is a huge fan of Andrew’s, who she worked with on the ‘Shrek’ films.
